Years ago, when we went grocery shopping, as we paid for our food, we would receive green stamps. We would lick these green stamps and place them inside a green stamp booklet. When the booklet was filled with green stamps, we would start another booklet. We would do this until we had enough green stamp books to take to the S & H Redemption Center, which carried all kinds of goodies from shovels to cookbooks as well as coffee pots and some musical instruments. That is how I got my first recorder. I had enough booklets filled up to trade in for the recorder.
My dog enjoyed the recorder as well. His teeth marks are still embedded in the mouthpiece that I must have left out one time. Also, he would respond to music such as the type that was played on the recorder, by singing. Maybe it was really a dog's way of whining. The music obviously hurt his ears, but we enjoyed sharing music with the dog anyway.
That was many years ago. Today, we don't have S & H Redemption Centers, but the memory of them is still lodged in our minds, at least to those of us who are old enough to remember what they were (and some of the things we 'bought' from them)!
Today, we can buy recorders and music books through amazon.com. They have a pretty good selection of things and many times, you can get a really good deal through them. Take a look at the side of this page. You can see some selected items that relate to the recorder. You can probably get recorders through E-bay as well as Craig's list today, as well, although it the selection might not be great.
